Creative Dialogue VIII participants led by John Paul Jones, Anssi Karttunen, and Magnus Lindberg
This week, Acequia Madre House hosts the workshop, Creative Dialogue VIII, which brings together young composers and instrumentalists from major international conservatories and universities for an 8-day period, to create together new pieces and work in collaboration with prominent musicians and composers. Creative Dialogue has brought many distinguished musicians to Santa Fe since it began in 2008. The workshop is once again led by the cellist Anssi Karttunen www.karttunen.org. He will be joined by Led Zeppelin’s legendary multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger, John Paul Jones www.johnpauljones.com/ , who brings to Creative Dialogue his vast experience combining different genres and improvisation and composer and pianist, Magnus Lindberg, currently the composer in residence at the London Philharmonic Orchestra. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnus_Lindberg .
The young composers and instrumentalists will have the unique challenge of crossing barriers between styles and between written and improvised music. The workshop will focus on compositions for low string instruments (cello, bass and electric bass) and improvisation, with the composers taking part in the performance.
