DR. PUNYASHREE PANDA

Dr. Punyashree Panda is an Assistant Professor of English at Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar, India. Dr. Panda has a doctoral degree in Native American literature and a Post-graduate diploma in ELT which is equivalent to an American TESOL diploma. She has successfully completed course work and attended many workshops on language and literature in and outside India. She has also conducted national workshops on language and literature.

Throughout her academic career, she has been getting scholarships and fellowships as rewards for academic excellence. She was awarded Monmouth University, NJ, USA Conference Travel Grant in 2010 and National Scholarship during B.A. and M.A. in 1998 & 2000. She cleared the UGC National Eligibility Test for Lectureship in 2000. She has done more than twenty conference presentations and around twenty five international and national research publications.

She is particularly interested in Native American and Native Canadian Fiction, Postcolonial World Literature, Indian Writing in English, Cross Cultural Communication, and English Language Teaching. Her scholarly reference work on the Native fiction of the USA and Canada was published by Bäuu Pess, Colorado, USA in 2011 in a book titled Contemporary Native Fiction of the U.S. and Canada: A Postcolonial Study. Her edited collection of essays titled The Local and the Global in Postcolonial Literature is being published by AuthorsPress, New Delhi in May 2014.

She is presently working on a sponsored project on “Twentieth Century Marginal Women’s Autobiographical Writing: A Contrastive Study of India and the United States.” This project, she believes, paves the way for the creation of new courses and core materials in the field of world literature through a contrastive research of the autobiographical writings of marginal women in India and the United States.
